Today, I have introduced H.R. 3215, the End Trafficking of the Terminated Unborn Act of 2015. The #PlannedParenthood videos are deeply disturbing and action steps needed to be taken. This bill will, "prohibit any person from soliciting or knowingly acquiring, receiving, or accepting a donation of human fetal tissue for any purpose other than disposal of the tissue if the donation affects interstate commerce and the tissue will be or is obtained pursuant to an induced abortion." The bill also removes the, "authority for funding research on fetal tissue obtained pursuant to an induced abortion." Research can still take place on fetal tissue that is a result of a miscarriage or a stillbirth with the consent of the parents. Our nation has been shocked by the release of recent videos and documents exposing the horrific business of trafficking and profiting off of aborted babies body parts. We have been presented with a moment of great clarity. We can continue to obstruct the truth of this issue and continue down the path of death, destruction, and legal loopholes, or we can choose life. My bill will put a stop to the horrifying practice of bartering for aborted babies' body parts. We must stand up and speak out for those who cannot speak out for themselves. By ending this practice of trafficking in death, we can take real and significant steps toward healing the soul of our nation. Please join me in wishing a Happy 240th Birthday to the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps! Our military chaplains have served with honor, courage, and selflessness since the Corps was created on this day in 1775 by the Continental Congress, at the request of General George Washington to fulfill the religious needs of his soldiers. In time, the Navy and the Air Force also formed their own corps. As we celebrate these often unsung heroes, let us recommit to supporting our military chaplains, as they support our men and women in uniform. #FaithitForward #HappyBirthdayChaplains

Thank you to CSBA and Booz Allen Hamilton for the invitation to address this morning's Directed Energy Summit. As Co-Chair of the Directed Energy Caucus, it was my honor to join the Secretary of the Navy, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, and others in discussing this important topic. Directed Energy is an important, leading-edge capability that is vital to missile defense and could play an important role in deterring and defending our space systems from interference and attack.
