Illegal immigration is one of the most dire issues facing our country today. The influx of illegal immigrants affects our economy, our communities, our culture, and our national security. In order for our country to thrive, we must reverse the Obama administration’s radical amnesty agenda that has welcomed widespread defiance of our nation’s laws and weakened our national security. During my time in congress I have continuously fought to strengthen, secure, and enforce our nation’s borders and immigration laws.
Securing Our Border and Enforcing the Rule of LawOur national security is intrinsically tied to our ability to secure and patrol our borders. As international threats to our country increase, we need immigration policies that will protect American citizens from crime, violence, and drug trafficking. I have supported the following legislation that reflects my strong commitment to keep our nation safe:
H.R. 300 – SMART Act of 2015
The Support More Assets, Resources, and Technology on the Border Act of 2015 gives clear instructions to the Secretary of Homeland Security that the U.S. government must maintain operational control of the border with Mexico. This bill also establishes Congressional oversight to DHS’s actions in this regard.
H.R. 2942 – Stop Catch and Release Act of 2015
H.R. 3011 – Establishing Mandatory Minimums for Illegal Reentry Act of 2015
Ending AmnestyPresident Obama’s reckless immigration policies and unlawful executive amnesty orders have led to a staggering increase of 2.5 million illegal immigrants nationwide.. The American people understand what a dangerous precedent this is. . As a Representative, I have listened to the will of the people. I have consistently voted to use Congress’s constitutional power of the purse to put an end to the administration’s flawed policies.
Most recently, I signed onto a letter to Chairman Carter of the House Appropriations Committee asking for a denial of funds for any executive actions on immigration. In addition, I have supported the following legislation to block the president’s unconstitutional actions:
H.R. 1328 – Denying Amnesty Bonuses Act
Sponsored and Cosponsored Immigration Legislation
H.R. 997 – English Language Unity Act of 2015
H.R. 5373 – Refugee Oversight and Resettlement Act of 2015
H.R. 3314 – Resettlement Accountability National Security Act of 2015
