Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn released the following statement on President Trump's 2018 budget proposal:
"With this budget, the President is keeping his promises to the American people to shrink the size of government and prioritize our essential national security obligations. I am pleased to see that he is committed to reducing out-of-control government spending and placing us on a path to a more fiscally sustainable future for our nation."

The President's budget keeps his promise to put Americans' Security First
It meets the President's promise to restore our neglected military.
Readiness and lethality are increased, making defeating ISIS a priority with one of the largest defense increases in history - $54 billion
Reverses the debilitating defense sequestration
Shifts dollars from foreign aid to putting America first
In addition to a renewed focus on the military, the budget also keeps the President's word to prioritize border security, veterans' health care, and school choice.
Adds $1.5 billion for immigration detention, transport, and removal
Includes the largest "second bite" increase (7%) ever for VA Medical Care
Invests $1.4 billion in public and private school choice
It also takes on the long overdue task of draining the swamp:
Eliminating hundreds of redundant, overlapping, or ineffective programs
Programs were evaluated on their effectiveness, not their intentions
Our national debt is quickly approaching $20 trillion, with every American's share coming out to $60,000. We cannot afford to waste one penny on programs that might have been around a long time, but just haven't shown results.
