Fort Carson is planning several construction projects that will help to facilitate the 2700 Combat Aviation Brigade moving to the post in 2013. A meeting held at the post Wednesday was focused on the designing and planning of the future construction.

Rep. Doug Lamborn said the brigade's addition will not only be positive for Fort Carson, but will also help to boost the local economy.

"Here in southern Colorado, I think we will have a stronger housing market, retail operations will be stronger and it will just be a boost to the local economy," Lamborn said.

Lamborn said $224 million dollars have been appropriated for the construction projects that he said will provide a multitude of opportunities for local construction workers.

"The main point is that there are jobs coming. There are construction dollars that are going to be spent… and for the people that are interested in being involved, there is a way they can get involved," said Lamborn.Fort Carson spokeswoman Dee McNutt said to get more information on available opportunities, contact the Fort Carson Contracting Office or the Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center.
