At a time when our nation faces unprecedented annual deficits and a crushing debt burden, it is clear we have tough spending choices to make. What should be equally clear is that those cuts must not jeopardize our national security. Next January, at the president’s insistence, we will be forced to make arbitrary and reckless cuts to our nation’s defense.
Recently, the three of us introduced a trio of bills in the House aimed at furthering an all-of-the-above energy approach that we believe the Obama Administration is only paying lip service to. Our bills seek to advance responsible development of renewables like hydropower and wind energy, along with traditional resources like oil and natural gas.
There have been a lot of steps - and we mean a lot - to reach the point where officials could legally open the Manitou Incline.
The discussion will reach its highest stage Tuesday, when the House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands will discuss a bill necessary for legal use of the trail.
