U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, R- Colorado Springs, said on Friday funding for IT spending for the new Schriever building is necessary for the military to remain agile. “This is necessary no matter the permanent location of U.S. Space Command headquarters. I look forward to a speedy resolution of the U.S. Space Command basing decision and urge my Congressional colleagues to release the hold on this funding which is unrelated to this decision and necessary for our warfighters,” Lamborn said in a statement.

Lamborn said the bill "prioritizes hypersonic development, bolsters America’s nuclear deterrent, and advances missile defense capabilities while addressing the pacing challenges posed by our adversaries. This legislation also strengthens America’s military space capabilities to protect our most valuable space assets and ensure American dominance."

"The Supreme Court has struck down the Biden administration's reckless student loan forgiveness bailout. As a result, the 87% of hard-working American taxpayers who are debt-free will no longer have to cover for the remaining 13%," Lamborn tweeted, adding, "Pleased to see SCOTUS stand for accountability."

HASC members also want more insight into the Pentagon’s missile defense plans. An amendment from Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) would require the Air Force and U.S. Strategic Command to brief Congress on how they are integrating the Space Development Agency’s planned megaconstellation of low-Earth orbit satellites—called the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture—into the military’s broader missile warning enterprise.

Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., offered an amendment that would require the Space Force to report back to the committee on what actions the service is taking to mitigate disruptions to launch ranges, whether from natural causes like weather events or from man-made threats. “The committee understands that successful space launch depends on multiple factors including the security of the launch range and installation,” the bill states. “The security of launch sites and protection of outside interference are necessary for assured access to space.”

With the House now in GOP control for the first time since 2018, Republicans, led by Colorado Rep. Doug Lamborn were able to approve a provision that directs the Pentagon to establish a program of record for a low-yield nuclear cruise missile. Experimentation for such a weapon has effectively been on life support since the White House last year expressed opposition to its development, citing fears it would increase the possibility of nuclear-armed conflict.

“The nuclear threat environment is changing rapidly,” Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., who chairs the Strategic Forces subcommittee, said before the amendment vote. “China’s arsenal is expanding dramatically and Russia’s arsenal continues to grow. We must adjust our nuclear posture.”
