It is official, a new combat aviation brigade will soon call Fort Carson home.
Congressman Doug Lamborn announced Monday afternoon that the Mountain Post has been selected by the army to house the newly created 13th Combat Aviation Brigade.

Fort Carson will be home to a 2,700 soldier aviation brigade, congressional sources confirmed Monday.
Army leaders briefed Colorado’s congressional delegation Monday morning on the move, which would push the post’s population of GIs to nearly 30,000 and bring an estimated $240 million in military construction to the Pikes Peak region.
The House on Thursday voted to end federal funding to National Public Radio. Republican supporters said it made good fiscal sense, and Democratic opponents called it an ideological attack that would deprive local stations of access to programs such as "Car Talk" and "All Things Considered."

In a largely party-line vote, the Republican-led House of Representatives voted Thursday afternoon to prohibit federal funding for National Public Radio and prohibit public radio stations from using federal funds to pay dues to NPR and other public radio distributors or purchase their programming.

Rep. Doug Lamborn of Colorado has attempted to ax National Public Radio out of the federal budget for years. The third-term Republican first proposed such a measure in 2007 as a conservative freshman in the Pelosi chamber. It went nowhere. Since then, he has battled on, working the cloakroom and speaking out on the House floor.

The House Rules Committee today set one hour of debate for Lamborn's measure, which would eliminate government support for the public radio network but allow stations to use federal money for administrative purposes.
