Addiction and Abuse

"We are faced with a health crisis in this nation. Since 2004, the number of deaths related to prescription opioid abuse have increased nearly 40% and a baby is born every half an hour dealing with drug withdrawal symptoms. When faced with a problem of this magnitude, it is moral for the House to act responsibly to help where we can. That's why I've supported H.R. 5046, the Opioid Abuse Reduction Act. This bill will direct resources to this problem and will give states greater flexibility to utilize these federal resources to combat opioid abuse at the local level."
