Press Release

Washington D.C. - This afternoon, the U.S. Army announced that it will be making changes to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson by converting the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team to a Stryker Brigade Combat Team. Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05), who has been working behind the scenes with senior Army leaders on this reorganization, was informed of the Army's decision with advance notice and released the following statement:

"I am very excited about the conversion of Ft. Carson's existing Infantry Brigade Combat Team to a Stryker Brigade Combat Team. This move helps solidify Ft. Carson's important role in our national defense. A Stryker Brigade is a full spectrum combat force that combines the lethality and survivability needed to succeed in a high-end fight with the rapid mobility required to immediately respond to threats anywhere in the world. This announcement really shows the commitment the Army is making to our area. Along with the new Security Force Assistance Brigade announced a few months ago, the Army has added nearly 1,000 extra soldiers and over 300 advanced combat vehicles to Fort Carson this summer alone. This is a testament to the quality of our community as the Colorado Springs area continues to be the Army's number one most-requested duty station and is consistently ranked as one of the best cities in the nation to live. Colorado Springs and the entire Pikes Peak region benefit greatly from the economic growth that accompanies decisions such as this. In return, we are proud to provide the support and assistance to our soldiers and their families as they sacrifice so much to serve our country. This is an exciting day for Colorado Springs."
