Washington D.C. - Congressman Doug Lamborn, Ranking Member on the House Armed Services Committee's Subcommittee on Readiness, made the following statement on the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi:

"While most of us were going about our Sunday morning routine, our most elite warriors were engaged in decisive operations against our nation's enemies. I am immensely grateful for the continuous sacrifices of our brave men and women in uniform and all that they do to safeguard our way of life. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was one of the most evil and sadistic men on earth, and it is good news for the U.S. and the world that he is dead. Unfortunately, the threat to civilization posed by the Islamic State does not die with him. We must remain vigilant and keep up the pressure on the radical Islamic terrorists who wish to export their vile ideology and violence. Great job by everyone throughout the chain of command!"
