Colorado Springs, CO- This evening at Library 21c in Colorado Springs, Congressman Lamborn joined students, parents, and educators from the 5th Congressional District to celebrate beautiful art and local talent.

The competition has been held every year since its creation in 1982 and provides Members of Congress with a unique opportunity to showcase the creative talents of high schoolers in their district.

Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:

"The Congressional Art Competition encourages and cultivates the ingenuity and creativity of young people across the nation. This event allows students and teachers to show off their talents and hard work to our community. Each year, I am in awe of the unique talent that we have here in Colorado's 5th Congressional District, and this year is no different. Congratulations to our winners and to everyone who participated. I can't wait to see our district's 'Best of Show' displayed along with the other national winners in Washington, D.C."

This year's competition included 130 pieces of artwork submitted from 16 high schools across the district.

The 'Best of Show' winner may receive scholarship opportunities and other great prizes. They may also receive two round-trip tickets from Southwest Airlines to attend the official celebration in Washington, D.C. High school-aged students in the district are encouraged to enter the annual competition, and the winner's artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
