Congressman Lamborn Leads Pro-Life Letter

April 14, 2020
Press Release

Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) led a letter with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Whip Steve Scalise, Pro-Life Caucus Chairman Chris Smith and over 120 Members of Congress sent to President Donald J. Trump regarding fetal tissue research. Rep. Lamborn’s letter thanks President Trump for stopping taxpayer funding for Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) research that used aborted baby body parts and for requiring an ethics board to review applications from outside researchers seeking funding from HHS for research of this kind. The letter urges President Trump to maintain this strong stance and continue to protect the sanctity of human life.

Rep. Lamborn’s letter comes after news reports and a letter to the President from 15 Attorneys General falsely claim that the pandemic necessitates an exemption to the fetal tissue policy.

Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:

"During this crisis, the last thing anyone should do is try and advance the left’s radical abortion agenda. Life is precious at all stages and any claim to the contrary is unconscionable. We will find a cure for the current Coronavirus, but using tissue from aborted babies to do so is unethical and wrong. I’m thankful that President Trump has taken such a strong stand for life, and I'm confident a solution can be found while also maintaining the sanctity of life."
