May 7, 2020

Washington, D.C. – The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF) released its 49th Annual Federal Rating of Congress and announced that Congressman Doug Lamborn is among the recipients of ACUF's Award for Conservative Excellence.

Congressman Lamborn earned 96% for the 2019 session and carries an average over his thirteen years in Congress of 96.59%.

"Congressman Lamborn is battle-tested when it comes to standing up to the left and does so with grace and fortitude,"said ACUF Chairman Matt Schlapp."We are grateful that the good people of Colorado send him to the People's House to fight for conservative principals."

"From his earliest days in the Colorado Legislature and throughout his career in Congress, Doug Lamborn has been one of the most reliable principled conservatives in elective office,"said ACUF Treasurer Bob Beauprez."ACUF is proud to acknowledge his commitment to our Constitution and our traditional American values."

"It is an honor to represent voters in Colorado's Fifth Congressional District and fight on their behalf alongside President Trump for bold, principled, conservative action,"said Congressman Doug Lamborn."When it comes to defending the timeless principles of our nation's founding- the 2nd Amendment, federalism, fiscal responsibility, and equality under the law, I have not and will not waiver. I will continue to fight for conservative principles and curbing Washington's wasteful spending habits throughout my time in Congress."

Each year, ACUF produces an annual scorecard based on the voting records of members in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. All members of Congress are issued a score, and awards are presented to those members who score 80 percent or higher. The ratings reflect how well lawmakers adhere to conservative principles.

The ACUF's Center for Legislative Accountability researches and selects a range of bills to evaluate a member's adherence to conservative principles. They select legislation that focuses on President Ronald Reagan's philosophy of the "three-legged stool":

1. Fiscal and economic: taxes, budgets, regulation, spending, healthcare, and property

2. Social and cultural: Second Amendment, religion, life, welfare, and education

3. National security: preserving our nation's security by maintaining a strong national defense

The wide range of issues covered gives citizens an accurate assessment of how Members of Congress view the role of government in an individual's life.

ACUF is the sister organization of the American Conservative Union, the nation's original conservative organization. For more than fifty years, the ACUF has educated and activated the conservative movement through its rating programs, policy centers, and educational events.
