Congressman Lamborn Statement on Democrat Housing Bill

April 1, 2009

Washington

"I voted against this bill because it rewards poor decisions made by individuals and lenders, while increasing mortgage costs and adding uncertainty to an already unstable market. I sympathize with those who are struggling to pay a mortgage due to job loss. However, many of those who would benefit from this bill, simply bought more house than they could afford and now want the taxpayers to bail them out.

"I support recovery policies that encourage private lending and investment. We must take positive steps in Washington to assure the markets that misguided and excessive government meddling will not be tolerated." -- Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
