Congressman Lamborn Supports Secretary Wilkie

July 24, 2018

Washington D.C. - Last night, the Senate confirmed President Trump's nomination of Robert Wilkie to serve as secretary of Veteran Affairs. He has extensive experience working on veterans issues, including work as the acting secretary of Veterans Affairs earlier this year and before that the Defense Department's undersecretary for personnel and readiness. He was responsible for health care and benefits for 9.4 million troops, family members, and retirees.

Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:

"As the representative of the congressional district with the most veterans, I believe this role must be filled with a person who cares deeply for our veterans and will serve them well. Secretary Wilkie has been extensively praised by veterans service organizations. I'm confident his experience working as a liaison between the Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Capitol Hill ensures he has the knowledge required to implement desperately needed reforms. He will continue to do a tremendous job. We'll work together to ensure success for those who've sacrificed so much for our country. After their selfless service to our nation, they deserve the absolute best care."
