Washington, D.C.  – Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn voted against an $855 billion spending package. The bill, H.R. 6157, combines Department of Defense and Labor-Health and Human Services-Education appropriations with a continuing resolution lasting until December 7th. This bill does not fund the southern border wall, which blatantly ignores the specific request of President Trump to do so. Additionally, Congressman Lamborn advocated for other conservative measures to be included which were not.

Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:

"Although the appropriations bill boosts defense spending, it is combined with the spending priorities of Democrats. Defense spending should be a separate vote from the Labor-HHS-Education funding for this reason. Democrats continue to demand their own priorities are met while holding defense spending hostage. It's not enough to say that Congress has passed the bill on time when conservative priorities were largely ignored. Even more, the president requested that Congress provide funding for the border wall and that we stay below budget. This bill does not accomplish those things. We cannot continue touting maintaining status quo as a success. We must fight for a better deal and conservative policies."
