Press Release

Colorado Springs, Colorado- Congressman Lamborn of Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District released the following statement after attending a Naturalization Ceremony hosted by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Pikes Peak Library District this morning in Colorado Springs, Colorado:

"It was an honor to attend today’s naturalization ceremony and witness what is one of the most important moments in the lives of the forty-one individuals who took the oath to become American citizens.

These individuals have sacrificed their time and effort to take the necessary steps to enter our country lawfully, and today, their dreams of becoming American citizens have come true.

From this group of new Americans—from 22 countries—will come, new ideas, solutions, and visions for our country and the world. At a time when our country is so divided, we need the voice of people who are Americans by choice. We need active citizenship, diligence, and fresh perspectives to help solve our toughest problems.

Those qualities are vital in keeping our nation focused on service to others, preserving our traditions, and sacrifice for the betterment of our posterity.

America was built in greatness, with the blood, sweat, determination, and tears of immigrants. Wave after wave, immigrants have renewed and enriched the American dream and contributed to the cultural, spiritual, and intellectual wealth and diversity of our country.

Congratulations to the men and women who have become American citizens in today’s ceremony, it is with honor that I call you, my fellow Americans."
