Congressman Lamborn's Statement on HASC Ranking Member Announcement
Washington D.C. - Today the House Armed Services Committee officially announced Members of the Committee and the Chairmen and Ranking Members of each of the Subcommittees. Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05), selected as the Republican Ranking Member on the Readiness Subcommittee, issued the following statement:
"I am greatly honored for the opportunity to serve as the Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness. Congressional Republicans and President Trump have been fighting to rebuild our hollowed-out military for the past two years. While progress has been made we still have a ways to go to ensure that our men and women in uniform have the best training and equipment possible to succeed in the current threat environment. I look forward to continuing these efforts and also working with my Democrat colleagues to provide oversight to this $250 billion portfolio and making sure our defense installations and the supporting civilian work force are up to the standards our troops deserve."
The Readiness Subcommittee oversees military readiness, training, logistics and maintenance issues and programs, military construction, installations and family housing issues, and the BRAC process. It also oversees civilian personnel, energy security, and environmental issues that affect DOD. The Readiness Subcommittee makes sure that troops are properly trained and their equipment is properly maintained so they can succeed in their missions, and that they have the facilities and services they deserve when they return home.
