Press Release

Washington, DC - On Friday, Secretary of the U.S. Air Force Heather Wilson announced her intent to resign her position at the end of May to be President of the University of Texas at El Paso.  In response to this news, Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:

"I will miss my friend and former colleague Heather Wilson who is leaving her position as the Secretary of the Air Force later this year, but I am immensely grateful for what she accomplished on behalf of the American people and for her Airmen. Secretary Wilson has served her nation at a moment in history of great turbulence and change, of growing threats and shrinking resources, but through her leadership managed to guide her Service out of a major readiness crisis and into an exciting new future. Under her stewardship, the Air Force has renewed and reenergized their dominance of the space domain. I have no doubt her impact on future reforms to national security space will be clear for all to see.  She should be proud of the legacy she leaves behind."
