Democrats Refuse to Address Border Crisis
Washington D.C. - Illegal immigration is at a new high this May, with an average of 4,500 people apprehended per day. Last week, U.S. Border Patrol detained the largest single group of migrants, numbering over 1,000, as they illegally crossed into El Paso, Texas. These large migrant caravans overwhelm medical teams and border patrol agents who are already struggling to operate with the increasing numbers of illegal immigrants.
The Democrats proposed solution to this crisis is H.R. 6, which would provide amnesty through a green card and a path to citizenship for millions of illegal aliens who currently reside in the United States. H.R. 6 does not strengthen border security or allocate more funds to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. Furthermore, H.R. 6 does not work to fix immigration loopholes. Instead, it encourages more people to take the dangerous journey to the United States and break our rule of law.
Representative Doug Lamborn (CO-05) released the following statement:
“There is an ongoing crisis at our southern border that we must address. Unfortunately, H.R. 6 avoids the problem and instead grants amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, including gang members and those convicted of felony or misdemeanor offenses. We must provide funding to address the crisis at the border and give border patrol agents the necessary resources to combat this growing problem. I am appalled that Democrats continue to vote against providing aid for more housing and Border Patrol agents and call upon them to quit blocking what should be a common sense solution. I voted no on H.R. 6 because it does not solve the real national security emergency at our southern border.”
