Congressman Doug Lamborn recently hired retired Air Force Colonel John Herd to assist him in outreach to members of the Colorado Springs defense community.  Herd, a 1977 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, will help the defense industry keep abreast of defense budget and policy changes in Washington. Colonel Herd will also coordinate with local military commanders to ensure that their concerns and requirements are more fully integrated with Lamborn’s defense initiatives.

"With 27 years of military service, Colonel Herd is a tremendous asset to the District. The Colonel has a proven record of building positive relationships with the military and defense communities. His leadership will help me more effectively represent those interests in Washington." – Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

Herd spent much of his time in the Air Force serving as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer.  He has commanded four Squadrons and two Logistics Groups ranging in size from 400 to 1,700 personnel including requirements to manage multi-million dollar budgets.  Herd has two Masters of Science degrees, one in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology and the other in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

Constituents can contact Col. Herd in Lamborn's Colorado Springs office at 719-520-0055.
