Lamborn: We must secure our borders

June 21, 2018

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) voted yes on H.R. 4760, Securing America's Future Act, although the bill did not garner enough votes to pass. This bill would have strengthened security on our southern border.

Congressman Doug Lamborn issued the following statement:

"The consequences of the illegal immigration problem in our country are serious and far-reaching. The previous administration failed to solve this issue and left an even bigger burden. However, this administration firmly believes enforcing our borders is essential for our national security. I stand with President Trump is his promise to secure our southern border and build a wall. At the same time, we must find a way to keep families together yet uphold the rule of law. I have long opposed sanctuary cities and believe we must enforce our nation's laws and protect our community. My commitment has always been to support legislation that deters, apprehends, and removes illegal immigrants."

"I voted for Rep. Goodlatte's immigration bill because it provided a full range of enforcement measures that go far beyond the border. I am disappointed the legislation did not pass. However, I am committed to ending illegal immigration into our country. I will continue working with my colleagues in the House to that end."
