Lifting the Oil Export Ban

October 9, 2015

Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn voted in favor of H.R. 702 to lift America's decades old ban on crude oil exports.

"The U.S. is now one of the leading producers of oil in the world and our energy policy must be updated to reflect this new reality. H.R. 702 will unleash the full potential of the American energy revolution by bringing down domestic gas prices, help create a climate for hundreds of thousands of new jobs, and generate an estimated $1.4 billion in profits to the federal government over the next ten years. Repealing this antiquated ban will also allow the U.S. to help our allies, particularly in Eastern Europe, by weakening OPEC and Russia's energy monopoly. And, thanks to President Obama's disastrous Iran agreement, Iran is able to more freely export its oil resources than our own country. The American economy needs to be unshackled in order to compete on this newly competitive economic front."
