President Biden's Politicization of the Department of Justice

October 13, 2021

Washington, D.C.- Today, Congressman Lamborn and 12 of his colleagues sent a letter to President Biden condemning the administration and Attorney General Garland for directing the Federal Bureau of Investigations to classify the actions of concerned parents at school board meetings as "the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes." This unprecedented step by AG Garland and Joe Biden comes after the National School Boards Administration raised concerns to the Biden administration last week. The letter further lays out concerns with Critical Race Theory and the lack of response to Antifa, which has repeatedly threatened America's institutions, destroyed businesses and led violent riots across the United States. The letter finishes by urging the Administration to protect the First Amendment rights of parents across the country.

Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:

"While repeatedly ignoring the threat from Antifa and others, who want to tear down our country, the Biden administration is now weaponizing the power of the federal government to go after parents expressing their concerns at school boards across the country. After a year of forced closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, school board meetings have taken on new importance as parents express their concerns about virtual learning and critical race theory in their curriculum. These parents deserve the ability to express their concerns. We must ensure the First Amendment rights of parents are never infringed upon. I strongly oppose the actions of this administration and am grateful for the support of my colleagues on this letter."
