Rep. Lamborn Announces Addition of First-Ever Congressional Space Force Fellow
Washington, D.C.- Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn announced an addition to his Washington D.C. staff, the first-ever United States Space Force Congressional Fellow, Major Chris Brown. Major Brown is an active-duty officer in the United States Space Force and will serve on the congressman’s defense team for the 2021 calendar year. Congressman Lamborn, who serves as a Ranking Member on the House Armed Services Committee, represents Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District: home to the United States Air Force Academy, Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, Fort Carson, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, U.S. Northern Command, and the provisional headquarters of U.S. Space Command.
As Congressman Lamborn’s 2021 Defense Legislative Fellow, Major Brown will focus on defense-related issues, assisting with the congressman’s activities on the House Armed Services Committee, and help with constituent casework involving active-duty military. Major Brown is a Space Operations Officer in the United States Space Force (USSF) and is the first USSF officer to join the Department of Defense Legislative Fellows Program. Prior to joining Congressman Lamborn through the Defense Legislative Fellow Program, Major Brown served as a legislative liaison with the USSPACECOM—Washington Liaison Office (WLO) at the Pentagon. He has served in various operational and staff assignments during his military career. Major Brown has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Arts from the American Military University. He has received several personal awards for his military service, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.
Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:
“Major Brown brings a wealth of experience in military space affairs to my team, and I am so excited to have him join us for the year as the first-ever Space Force Congressional Fellow. The Defense Legislative Fellow Program is an excellent institution. It allows active-duty military leaders to learn about the legislative process even as it lets Members of Congress utilize the fellows’ talents and knowledge. Given Colorado Springs’ role as our nation’s center of excellence for our national security space enterprise, I anticipate Chris will prove to be a tremendous force multiplier for our community, given his background. He has hit the ground running, and we are delighted to have him aboard.”
