Statement on Colorado Springs Thunderbird Crash

Following the graduation ceremony for the Air Force Academy Class of 2016, a Thunderbird aircraft crashed in a field to the south of the Colorado Springs Airport.

"I am so relieved and thankful that the pilot involved in the crash of a Thunderbird aircraft is safe. I am also thankful that no one appears to be injured on the ground. I commend the pilot's ability to skillfully bring this in-air emergency to a safe conclusion."
