Statement on UK Referendum to Leave European Union

In response to the United Kingdom's decision to exit the European Union, Congressman Lamborn has released the following statement:

"The United States respects the results of the United Kingdom's referendum on its membership in the European Union. The United Kingdom is, and always will be, a vital ally to the United States. We should use this opportunity to forge an even closer partnership, including entering into immediate negotiations for a US-UK free trade agreement."

Congressman Lamborn also stated:

"The ‘Brexit' vote serves as a reminder that the sovereignty of nations has been under attack.  People desire to have a voice in their future and preserve their economic freedom and national security, which is what I have been working for as Chair of the House Sovereignty Caucus."
