Statement on the VETERANS Act of 2017

June 15, 2017

Congressman Lamborn has issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 2373, the VETERANS Act of 2017:

"I am honored to be an original cosponsor of this important bill that expands health care choices for our brave veterans. Under the Affordable Care Act as well as the American Health Care Act, those who are eligible for VA healthcare benefits were not eligible for tax credits to purchase private insurance. These provisions would limit healthcare choices for up to seven million veterans nationwide—including many individuals in Colorado's fifth district.

After I voiced my concerns to House Leadership, the VETERANS Act was introduced to create a permanent exception that will allow veterans to receive tax credits for health insurance.

We must not waiver in providing the quality coverage and care our veterans deserve. They have bravely served our country, and now it's our turn to serve them. This is a commonsense bill that will help our veterans and honor their service to our country."
