Voting to Override Obamacare Veto

February 2, 2016
Press Release

Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn voted to override President Obama's veto of H.R. 3762, the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act.

"With my vote today, I pushed back against the president's flawed view of our nation's healthcare system. For his own political and legacy-building reasons, President Obama vetoed a bipartisan bill that would gut Obamacare funding, eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood, repeal the individual mandate and the medical device tax, assist the states in providing responses to substance abuse and mental health needs, and reduce the deficit by $516 billion. Despite this president's intransigence, Congress has, with this vote to override a veto, laid the necessary groundwork for a full repeal and replacement of Obamacare with a new administration in 2017. This much-needed repeal and replacement will lower costs, increase quality of care, and put patients back in charge of their healthcare coverage."
