Washington, D.C.- Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn, Vice Chairman of the House Natural Resources Full Committee, attended a House Natural Resources Full Committee oversight hearing , “Unleashing America’s Energy and Mineral Potential’.  Energy -Despite House Democrats’ insistence that we can quickly transition to renewables, the Energy Information Administration predicts a 50% increase in global energy consumption by 2050, with petroleum and other liquid fuels remaining the largest energy source. -The Biden administration has deliberately subverted the law and refused to hold numerous lease sales, causing a backlog of oil and gas production on federal lands. -Massive permitting delays impact every part of the energy sector, including renewables. The current permitting process is filled with repetitive, duplicative assessments and prolonged processing, making it difficult for developers to plan, finance, and build projects efficiently.

"It is glaringly obvious that the state of our union is weaker, and American families are suffering because of Joe Biden's out-of-touch, failed liberal policies that have caused historic inflation and have emboldened our adversaries. There is a reason Republicans took back the House, and that's because of speeches like tonight where Biden ignored and deflected blame for inflation, rising crime, and a border crisis his administration created.  Americans deserve solutions, not the lame excuses they just heard from President Biden."

“The head of U.S. Strategic Command has informed us that China has surpassed the U.S. in the number of ICBM launchers – this should serve as a wake-up call for the United States. It is not an understatement to say that the Chinese nuclear modernization program is advancing faster than most believed possible.  We have no time to waste in adjusting our nuclear force posture to deter both Russia and China. This will have to mean higher numbers and new capabilities.”

"House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has made good on his promise to try to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Despite backlash from Democrats and even a few conservatives, we must make it clear that Omar does not deserve to sit on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Antisemitic vitriol, which she has spewed numerous times in her official capacity as Congresswoman, has no place in American society and should not be rewarded with a position of authority. We must not allow antisemitism to reside in the heart of Congress."

"I am pleased to be selected as the Vice Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee. As a long-time member of this committee, I am excited to work on legislation that will lower energy costs for families and unlock American production capabilities all while preserving our beautiful public lands. The Biden administration's restrictive policies have empowered foreign nations by outsourcing critical minerals and energy production that we have the capacity to produce. By increasing energy and mining production, we will provide thousands of jobs across the nation, decrease our dependence on foreign nations, and lower the cost of energy and critical minerals. I am looking forward to what Republicans in the Natural Resources Committee will accomplish this Congress."

“Two years ago, the Biden Administration naively agreed to an unconditional five-year extension of the New START Treaty with Russia, despite the Kremlin’s years of repeated violations of every other arms control agreement. Today’s announcement confirming Russia’s violations of the New START Treaty demonstrates that Moscow cannot be trusted to abide by any international agreement. Russia has proven that it will ignore any limitation it deems inconvenient be it a legally-binding treaty, or the internationally-recognized borders of its neighbors. Russia’s violations cannot go unchallenged. Allowing Moscow to pick and choose when and how it complies with treaty rules – especially while the United States adheres to these same rules without fail – is intolerable and unsustainable. Russia must be held accountable for its actions if the New START Treaty, or any future agreement, is to have any meaning at all. If these agreements cannot be enforced, then they do nothing to enhance U.S. security, and serve only to undermine it."

"The men and women serving in our military, retirees, and their families who served alongside them deserve more options for their healthcare – not less. Access to quality, accessible, reliable pharmacies should not be something our military families have to worry about. I urge the Defense Health Agency and Express Scripts to carefully consider the impact these recent changes have on our military families and make the changes necessary to facilitate increased pharmacy access and availability to beneficiaries of the TRICARE network.”

"I am honored that we are joined by a leading advocate for democracy and human rights in Iran, Ms. Nazanin Boniadi.  The Iranian regime denies their people basic rights and liberties and brutally tortures those who bravely object. Following the murder of Mahsa Amini, the people of Iran spoke. They are condemning the repressive actions of the Iranian regime, most notably the Ayatollah's morality police. They demand change, and we stand with them. I encourage President Biden to respond to their calls for help. I commend the women and men of Iran for standing up for their God-given rights.”

"I am excited to welcome Will, Megan, and Taylor onto my team and look forward to the experience, dedication, and expertise each of them brings.  During the 118th Congress, there will be many opportunities for legislation that will fortify our Constitution, secure our border, protect the sanctity of life, and bolster our military. There is much to be done to reverse the destructive policies that House Democrats put in place over the last two years. I look forward to working with my legislative team on these important issues and will continue to advocate for my constituents in Colorado's 5th Congressional District."

“I am honored that House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers has entrusted me to lead the Strategic Forces Subcommittee,” said Congressman Doug Lamborn. “As China engages in an unprecedented nuclear weapons buildup, Russia continues its unprovoked invasion attempt of Ukraine, North Korea increases missile test cadence, and Iran inches closer to a nuclear weapon, it is fundamental that the United States maintains a robust strategic deterrent. I will work tirelessly to ensure that nuclear modernization remains on track, homeland missile defense receives robust funding, advancements are made in national security space, and we achieve offensive and defensive hypersonic technology breakthroughs. Leading these efforts is a tremendous responsibility, and I look forward to the challenge.”
