Washington D.C. - Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) released the following statement regarding the Air Force's announcement to relocate Joint Forces Space Component staff to Schriever AFB, CO from Vadenberg Air Force Base, CA. The result is 148 additional personnel into the district at the National Space Defense Center, according to the Air Force. Gen. Raymond will now have his own staff within 30 minutes of his work location instead of in California. Personnel will begin relocation from Vandenberg to Schriever in May of 2018 with an expected full staff in place by September of 2019.
"The funds appropriated by the FY18 Omnibus are being used to help the military modernize and make smart decisions such as moving General Raymond’s staff from California to Colorado," Rep. Lamborn said. "It further emphasizes Colorado's important role in protecting our country and Colorado Springs’ position as the epicenter of the national security space enterprise.”
