Washington D.C. - This is National Police Week, when officers and their families travel to Washington, D.C. to remember their loved ones who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The names of 360 officers who died in the line of duty, including 129 last year, will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. This includes El Paso County Officer Micah Flick who died on February 8th.
Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) issued the following statement:
“Every day, across the country, our law enforcement officers risk their lives to protect our communities. They selflessly serve and protect us despite the dangers of the job. Too many families must face heartbreak when an officer is killed in the line of duty. I’m reminded of Micah Flick, El Paso County’s own recently fallen officer, who displayed the ultimate bravery and courage when he put the safety of others above himself. This week especially I’m grateful for Micah and the hundreds of thousands of officers like him who keep our communities safe. Thank you all.”
