Washington, DC – Today, the House passed the National Defense Authorization Act Conference Report for Fiscal Year 2019. As a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee and a conferee for this year’s bill, Congressman Lamborn has played a significant role in keeping the NDAA on track for its earliest passage in 41 years.
Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:
“As our country faces increasing threats from abroad, it is essential that our men and women in uniform are equipped with the best technology, resources, and equipment to accomplish their missions. Our brave service members are the driving force that keep us safe. I’m grateful for their sacrifice and service to our nation. Unfortunately, the previous administration did not take restoring readiness seriously, and our armed forces suffered from serious neglect. That’s why this year’s NDAA marks a turning point in rebuilding our military. Our troops get a well-deserved pay raise of 2.6%. I was pleased to work with Chairman Thornberry to prevent raised Tricare fees. The legislation also stipulates an investment in missile defense and other critical military capabilities in order to confront military aggression from global threats. I also worked with my colleagues on the House Armed Services Committee to reform the military’s approach to national security in space, which will greatly benefit Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District.”
