Protecting the unborn
· Cosponsored and voted for Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – to protect unborn babies from abortion when science proves they can feel pain, around 20 weeks; also signed a Congressional letter requesting House Leadership to bring the bill up for a vote
· Cosponsored Heartbeat Protection Act – to protect every beating heart, by restricting abortions once a heartbeat is detected, around 6-7 weeks
· Cosponsored Dismemberment Abortion Act –to protect unborn babies from the cruel and painful method of abortion known as dismemberment or dilation and evacuation abortion
· Cosponsored Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act – to protect unborn babies from abortion due to discrimination against their sex (restricting sex-selective abortions)
· Authored the Schoolchildren's Health Protection Act –to protect school children from easy access to drugs that can induce chemical abortions
Defunding abortion providers and protecting taxpayer dollars
· Initiated recent letter, supported by 69 House Colleagues, to Senate leadership asking them to prioritize pro-life protections in any health care legislation they pass
· Cosponsored No Abortion Bonds Act – to close loopholes that allow abortion providers to finance new clinics and facilities with municipal, county, and state bonds that are exempt from federal taxes
· Signed onto a Congressional letter asking for the prioritization of defunding Planned Parenthood legislatively
· Signed onto a Congressional letter to VP Pence asking him to prioritize the inclusion of the Hyde Amendment in any insurance stabilizing bills
· Signed onto a Congressional amicus brief in 5th Circuit Court of Appeals case, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas v. Charles Smith – supporting Texas's effort to remove Planned Parenthood from its state Medicaid program
· Signed onto a Congressional amicus brief before the Supreme Court this spring, NIFLA v. Becerra – on behalf of National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, arguing that compelling pro-life centers to promote referrals for abortion violates the First Amendment
· Gave speeches on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives pushing to defund Planned Parenthood in light of trafficking of baby body parts; shifting federal funds to responsible federally qualified health centers
Protecting women and babies after birth
· Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act –to protect babies who are born alive after failed abortions and given the same treatment as any other baby born at the same gestational age
· Authored a personal letter and signed onto Congressional letter to Chairman Brady (Ways and Means Committee Chairman) successfully advocating for the reinstatement of the adoption tax credit
· Signed a Congressional letter requesting House Leadership to call for a vote vote on legislation offering British baby Charlie Gard citizenship so he could be brought to the U.S. for treatment
· Signed onto a Congressional amicus brief in the Supreme Court case, Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt to apply common sense medical standards to abortion clinics that are operating with unsafe standards that put women at risk
Conscience protection
· Cosponsored Conscience Protection Act – to prohibit federal, state and local governments from receiving federal funds if they discriminate against those who decline to participate in abortion or abortion coverage
· Signed onto a Congressional letter supporting the new HHS Mandate regulations offering religious and moral exemptions for employers to not offer contraceptive coverage in health care
· Signed onto a Congressional letter requesting VP Pence to support the inclusion of the Conscience Protection Act in FY18 funding bills
· Signed onto a Congressional amicus brief in Supreme Court case Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Inc., to protect the consciences of employers who have religious objections to providing coverage for contraception
Ethical research
· Authored the End Trafficking of the Terminated Unborn Act (H.R. 524) – to prohibit any person from soliciting or knowingly acquiring, receiving, or accepting a donation of human fetal tissue for any purpose other than disposal of the tissue if the donation affects interstate commerce and the tissue thatis obtained pursuant to an induced abortion.
· Cosponsored the Patients First Act –to fund ethical stem cell research that doesn't harm human embryos
· Authored investigative letters that found evidence that University of Colorado Anschutz Campus had participated in the purchase of aborted baby body parts for research; additionally, Colorado State University had participated in the same types of purchases in the past, but at Rep. Lamborn's prompting, CSU guaranteed that moving forward, it would seek alternatives to aborted fetal tissue for purposes of research
· Signed a Congressional letter asking POTUS to appoint a new director of the National Institutes of Health who supports ethical stem cell research and the protection of human embryos
Pro-life groups and coalitions
· Hosted several roundtable conversations with pro-life leaders and volunteers in Colorado's Fifth District
· Spoke at the 40th anniversary celebration of Jewish Pro-Life group EFRAT
· Authored op-ed in The Colorado Springs Gazette with Life Network CEO Rich Bennett on offering compassion to those facing pregnancy decisions (see enclosed)
· Submitted speech to Congressional Record honoring Focus on the Family on their 40th Anniversary, specifically highlighting Operation Ultrasound
Colorado legislative record
· Introduced and passed into law the statue prohibiting the sale of fetal body parts
· Carried more pro-life legislation than anyone in the history of the Colorado legislature
